Industrial grade speech recognition at HIMSS 2007
New partnerships:
- Electronic Healthcare Systems (Birmingham, AL) integrates SpeechMagic into its electronic medical record solution CareRevolution to ensure the faster availability of accurate medical data in the electronic record. This will allow practices to run more effectively and profitably with a single, comprehensive point-of care system. Over 4,000 physicians are currently working with CareRevolution and they can easily upgrade their solutions.
- Health Language (HL) (Aurora, CO) and PSRS (now Nuance) started a technology initiative to increase the accuracy of healthcare documentation. HL's language engine (LE) is infrastructure software that accelerates the incorporation of controlled medical vocabularies, coding standards, corresponding maps, and other terminology related content into healthcare IT applications, such as the document creation platform SpeechMagic.
- Vianix (Virginia Beach, VA) also joined the technology initiative of PSRS (now Nuance) to develop new compression standards for healthcare voice recognition, which will significantly reduce the requirements on storage space, network capacity and processors. Aiming to optimize the usage of speech recognition on PDAs the companies are setting the basis for the mobility and flexibility needed to provide physicians with data capturing, processing and sharing technology at the point-of-care.
- Citrix Ready status has been granted to SpeechMagic. SpeechMagic was first to provide full-scale speech recognition in Citrix access infrastructures. The new status is a reflection of our long-term commitment to providing Citrix users with industrial grade technology for healthcare document creation and information capturing.
- Language and Computing (L&C) and PSRS (now Nuance) combine automated speech recognition and natural language understanding capabilities to develop a solution which extracts relevant information from the unformatted text and transforms it into structured and coded data. Physician documents become reusable data within the electronic health record, enabling greater patient safety and quality health care. "Eighty percent of the existing information worldwide is captured in the form of unstructured text, that is full of critical medical information", says Mr. Peter Huisman, CEO of L&C. "Technology can efficiently collect data from free text, which provides essential clinical information for the treatment of a patients."
- XIMIS Inc. (El Paso, TX) presents its radiology information system XIRIS powered by SpeechMagic. User interface and speech recognition in XIRIS are available in multiple languages. SpeechMagic recognizes 23 languages, providing the largest language portfolio in the professional speech recognition industry.
Industrial grade speech recognition with SpeechMagic - Europe's move towards healthcare efficiency
- The European healthcare sector is adopting speech recognition on a large scale. Norway's Health Regions announced the integration of SpeechMagic with their Electronic Medical Record system. All physicians in Norway will be given access to SpeechMagic.
- A project in Paris, France is of different dimension: Realizing the world's largest hospital-wide speech recognition implementation, the city's hospital network, Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris equips 39 public hospitals, 12,000 physicians and 3,000 secretaries with SpeechMagic.
- Several region-wide speech recognition implementations are reported from Spain, where the healthcare services of the country's Castilla-La Mancha, Andalucia and Valencia regions provide frontend speech recognition to all physicians in order to facilitate the immediate availability of medical reports.
Offering industrial grade features, SpeechMagic has proven the technology of choice for large-scale, region-wide speech recognition projects.
